On the 1st of February 1948 in Paris, France, Jean Cassegrain paves the way for a pioneering and dynamic leather goods company. Longchamp, a company belonging to the Maison group, is launched and sells leather goods both to customers in the French capital and to foreign fashion houses in the world market. Longchamp's success can be summed up in four words: creativity, quality, work and service.
On May 1st 1948, Jean Cassegrain presents at the Paris Fashion Fair the new Longchamp collection of leather goods made from lizard and crocodile skin, and this innovative collection is a hit in the European markets! The company relies on the best craftsmen to bring Longchamp's creations "to life" and imprint the Longchamp personality onto each leather item made by Maison.
In 1971, Longchamp and the founder's son, Philipe Cassegrain, decide to launch the first collection of Longchamp women's handbags and the "Longchamp Leather Goods Line" is created, which becomes a hit abroad, especially in Japan! In 1988 the first leather goods retail store opens in Paris, which quickly becomes Maison's "flagship".
Today, Longchamp has over 300 stores and boutiques around the world and offers a wide range of products, from women's handbags and perfumes to sunglasses! Longchamp has been around for over 70 years and is still a family affair today, as the owners are still the Cassegrain family.
